Shillong: North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited pulled in its highest profit ever. The firm hit Rs 769.08 crore in Profit After Tax for the 2025-26 fiscal year. CHRO Samiran Sinha Ray shared the news at a Friday meeting in Shillong. He briefed attendees on the company's performance, ongoing initiatives, and operational milestones.
NEEPCO holds 2,051 MW of installed capacity across the Northeast. This covers 32.6 per cent of the region's 6,298 MW total. The breakdown includes 1,519 MW of hydropower, 527 MW from gas, and 5 MW of solar. Their 600 MW Kameng station remains a flagship asset.
Expansion is moving fast. The company is pushing forward on the 240 MW Heo, 186 MW Tato-I, and 700 MW Tato-II hydro projects in Arunachal Pradesh. A 300 MW solar plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan, is also underway to boost clean energy. NEEPCO stated these initiatives are "expected to augment power generation capacity and support India’s clean energy transition."
The company also tracks community welfare. They run programs focused on education, health, and local infrastructure. In Shillong, they took charge of the MUDA Shopping Complex at Police Bazar under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. Workers there focus on scrubbing walls, removing paan stains, and fixing litter issues.
The Inter-Media Publicity Coordination Committee meeting brought together diverse agencies. Representatives from NEHU, ICAR, Doordarshan Kendra, and others joined the session. They reviewed regional publicity and planned future media outreach to highlight government programs and institutional gains.
