Nagaon Residents Vandalize Alleged Dealer's Home Over Police Inaction

Guwahati: Tension escalated in the Herapati-Tanpara area of Nagaon as local residents staged a protest against a surging drug menace. The crowd vandalized the home of Shamsul Haque, an individual they identified as a drug peddler actively trafficking banned substances in their neighborhood.

Protesters claimed they had alerted local police about Haque and other alleged dealers numerous times. They argued that law enforcement failed to address their concerns, leaving the community vulnerable to the growing impact of drug abuse on local youth.

Frustrated by what they described as official inaction, residents took matters into their own hands and damaged the accused person's property. They are now calling for immediate and stricter enforcement against those involved in the local drug trade.

Police have not released an official statement regarding the vandalism or the specific allegations of neglect. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
