Guwahati: The Nagaon district administration is gearing up for a major operation to clear illegal encroachments from government grazing reserve land in Hatichong Mouza. This initiative follows reports that portions of designated grazing reserves have been occupied by unauthorized residential structures and private ponds.

Assam Minister Keshab Mahanta and local MLA Rupak Sharma recently inspected the sites to prepare for the upcoming removal of these structures. The targeted zones include Government Grazing Reserve No. 72 in Goraimari Pathar and reserves Nos. 62 and 63 in Bogoriguri Pam, all of which fall under the Nagaon Sadar Revenue Circle.

Authorities confirmed that formal notices were issued to the occupants on July 25, 2025, ordering them to vacate the state land. Because these directives were ignored, the administration is now moving toward forced action. The district government maintains that the occupants "did not comply with the directives," leaving the state little choice but to initiate the eviction process in the coming days. Administrative preparations for the site clearance are currently underway.
