Kohima: Nagaland Tourism Association and Nagaland Association of Tour Operators teamed up to observe World Tourism Day 2026. Fifty members gathered on September 28. They started with a service at Peak of Hope Chapel.
The group climbed 504 steps to reach the Peak of Hope. From there, they covered a 3.7-kilometer trail ending at Kapamodzü. The hike took them through dense forests and offered views of the surrounding mountains. It provides a manageable trek for families, photographers, and adventure seekers.
Organizers want travelers to push past common routes. They aim to open up new paths that link visitors with local communities. Speaking on the event, the groups noted, "The participation of industry members reflected a shared interest in developing experiences that connect visitors more closely with local landscapes and communities."
The event drew support from several local partners. Sponsors included Tribal Odyssey, Abode Venture, Compass Tours, Pier Tours, and Ara Travels. Explocal, India Trail, Explore Nagaland, Happy Feet Adventures, and Otsi Ohan Restaurant also backed the trek.

The trek took place in Phek District, starting from the town of Pfutsero. Kejaroko Pieru, president of NATO, said the event served as both a celebration for workers in the state tourism sector and a call for visitors to explore the region on foot.
