Kohima: Kepozo Kapuh, a student at St. Joseph’s College in Jakhama, returned to Dimapur after winning the Best Responder Award at the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 in New Delhi. Representing Nagaland as the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Kapuh secured a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for his performance at the national event.

Organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with MY Bharat, the summit gathered youth representatives from across India to discuss governance and nation-building. During his time at the event, Kapuh participated in a session regarding women’s reservation, where he argued for increased capacity-building and support for women in society.

Reflecting on the need for new perspectives in governance, Kapuh emphasized the value of merging traditional wisdom with modern energy. Addressing the media upon his arrival, he stated, "It is important to see young faces, young voices, new ideas and new strategies in political life." He maintained that this shift toward younger leadership is not an act of disrespect toward older generations but a necessary evolution for social welfare.

Kapuh expressed that the recognition has instilled a sense of responsibility rather than arrogance. He credited his success to his faith and the guidance of his mentors at St. Joseph’s College, while noting that the federal government covered his travel and accommodation expenses. Moving forward, he encourages young people to move out of their comfort zones to engage in meaningful discussions that contribute to the betterment of society.
