Nagaland Strengthens Mission Shakti Outreach During State Level Consultative Meeting

Kohima: The Social Welfare Department hosted a state level consultative meeting and training program for district functionaries of Mission Shakti at the State Institute of Rural Development Auditorium in Kohima on May 15. The initiative sought to bolster coordination and capacity building for the effective implementation of women and child welfare schemes throughout Nagaland.

During the event, Secretary of Social Welfare and Mission Director for Mission Shakti, Yongchingkumla, noted significant progress from the previous fiscal year. Key achievements included the establishment of Sakhi One Stop Centres in six newly created districts in October 2025. Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana provided cash incentives totaling over 3.33 crore rupees to 6,878 beneficiaries via direct benefit transfers during the 2025-26 financial year. She commended the staff for their dedication and encouraged a focus on accountability and sensitivity in future interventions.

Secretary and AHoD of Social Welfare, Limawabang Jamir, emphasized that the core strategy for advancing the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Hub for Empowerment of Women initiatives lies in interdepartmental convergence. He highlighted that collaborative efforts between district administrations and various government departments remain essential for efficient service delivery.

The technical sessions featured presentations on integrating key welfare programs and a focus on child protection mechanisms by Raitale Zeliang of Mission Vatsalya. Attendees also participated in knowledge sharing regarding best practices for the One Stop Centre, Shakti Sadan, and Sakhi Niwas models. Chaired by Director Tosheli Zhimomi, the meeting concluded with interactive discussions aimed at refining support systems for vulnerable populations across the state.
