Kohima: Nagaland officials have ramped up surveillance and containment measures following confirmed African Swine Fever outbreaks in the Medziphema, Tseminyu, and Phek districts. The state is moving quickly to curb the spread of the virus after pig samples from Ward-9 in Medziphema tested positive.
The district administration in Medziphema has established an infected zone reaching one kilometer from the outbreak site, while enforcing stricter monitoring within a ten-kilometer radius. Authorities have also banned the transport, sale, and slaughter of pigs and pork products in the area.
Similar preventive actions are underway in Tseminyu district following reports of multiple pig deaths in Tseminyu village. In Phek, officials have designated Khuza village as an infected zone and placed surrounding areas under close watch. A strict prohibition on the import, export, and movement of swine and pork remains in effect across the district until further notice.
Government authorities are urging all local farmers and residents to follow official health guidelines closely. These measures are designed to control the current situation and prevent the disease from reaching new areas.
