Dimapur Police Seize Nearly 20,000 Bottles of Illicit Cough Syrup

Kohima: Dimapur police raided a warehouse on Tuesday evening. They seized 19,760 bottles of suspected codeine-based cough syrup. The stash sat inside House No. 23-B on Jain Temple Road in the Marwari Patti area. A team from the Sub-Urban Police Station handled the operation.

Officers moved in after getting a tip. They called for the tenant repeatedly, but nobody showed up. ACP West ordered his team to force the door open. They filmed the entire search through the e-Sakshya platform to keep the process transparent. Independent local witnesses stood by during the raid.

The haul included 101 cartons of Bescod syrup holding 16,160 bottles. Another 25 cartons of EB-DYL syrup added 3,600 bottles to the pile. Police also found other unaccounted pharmaceuticals. They officially registered a suo motu case, SBN PS C/No 046/26 U/S 21(C) of the NDPS Act, against the unknown operators.

Authorities are now working to trace the supply chain. They want to crush the local distribution network. The department asked the public for help. They promised, "the identity of the informant would be kept confidential." Anyone with information on drug sales should visit their nearest station.
