Kohima: Nagaland DGP Rupin Sharma flagged off the Nagaland Police motorcycle team from Kohima headquarters today. The riders left for Hojai, Assam, alongside the Manipur Police contingent. They plan to cover 2,845 km over 21 days.
The mission runs from October 7 to 27. It includes 16 travel days and five strategic stops in Guwahati, Siliguri, Purnea, Arrah, Katni, and Indore. Riders will stop for maintenance, medical checks, and briefings. The trek spans seven states before ending at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar.
This rally honors Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. It operates under Ministry of Home Affairs directives. DGP Sharma told the team, "The rally would provide police personnel from the Northeast and other parts of the country an opportunity to interact, understand one another and experience the organisation of a large-scale national event."
The Nagaland team promotes a "Fight against Drugs" theme. Their campaign message is "Break Free, Stay Drug-Free." ABSI Asa Chietsotsu leads a group of nine. This includes six riders, a mechanic, and a support driver. They will meet other regional contingents in Guwahati on October 9. The final celebration takes place on October 31.

The effort coordinates with the Central Reserve Police Force Directorate and other Central Police Organisations. DGP Sharma linked the event to a push from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who wants police forces to play a bigger part in national observances, mirroring the role the armed forces take during Republic Day.
IGP (Administration) and State Nodal Officer Videlalie Zashumo provided the mission overview. The nine-man roster includes Contingent Commander ABSI Asa Chietsotsu. The riders are UBC Lezovotuo, UBC Kekhrievolie, UBC Rokosatuo, UBC Isilong Hau, Constable Agwasim Seb, and UBC Libemo. Constable-Driver Thunjanbemo handles the support vehicle, while Constable-Mechanic Safdar Ali keeps the bikes running.
The journey tracks through seven states, including Uttar Pradesh. Upon arrival at Ekta Nagar on October 27, the team will run through rehearsals and staging before the final ceremony.
