Nagaland Hosts First Hands-On Drone Workshop for Students

Kohima: The Directorate of Science and Technology in Nagaland recently hosted the state's first hands-on drone workshop in Kidima. Held at the Village Council Hall on June 12 and 13, the event was organized in partnership with the Southern Angami Students Union to promote practical STEM education in line with the National Education Policy 2020.

A total of 120 students representing 16 schools across Southern Kohima attended the program. During the two-day event, participants learned how to identify drone components, assemble chassis, and manage complex circuitry. The training culminated in live test flights and an inter-school flight competition.

EAC Kezocha, Zerütso Kesiezie, opened the workshop by encouraging students to explore new technologies. Onongoto Soleho, chief mentor at the Innovation Hub and SEC, described the event as a vital step in modernizing regional education. He stated, "Promoting science and technology was crucial to narrowing the regional digital divide and achieving experiential learning goals."

Technical sessions were led by a team of mentors, including Vikuovotuo Zhale, Mhasheto Yhobu, and Kekhruseto Soleho. The workshop concluded following a welcome address by union president Kehozhol Noel Kulnu and a final vote of thanks from finance secretary Noseto Ltu.
