Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav officially launched the Census 2027 self-enumeration process on Tuesday at Lok Bhavan in Kohima. By completing his own enumeration, the governor initiated a state-wide shift toward a digital, citizen-centric approach to data collection that runs from June 16 to June 30, 2026.
This initiative operates under the theme My Census, My Development. The governor noted that the transition to a fully digital platform will improve efficiency and accessibility, ultimately helping the government create evidence-based policies for healthcare, education, and infrastructure. These efforts are part of the broader national goal to achieve Viksit Bharat 2047.
Highlighting the significance of the project, Governor Yadav said, “The census is not merely a count of people; it is a foundation for future planning and development.” He encouraged all citizens to ensure the accurate enumeration of their households and individuals to support this national goal.
The state has deployed more than 6,100 census officials to oversee the process. The governor praised these workers and urged them to carry out their duties with integrity. He also called on community leaders, tribal hohos, and village councils to provide full support to ensure the exercise is a success across the region.
