Kohima: Census workers rolled into Kohima on July 3 to log household data. The team visited the official residence of Nagaland Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen under the watch of Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem. The crew then moved to Meriema to list the home of Angami Public Organization president Thejao Vihienuo. DC Buchem led the effort alongside ADC Vekusheyi Rhakho.

Vihienuo sat down with the team after the walk-through to discuss local issues and the logistics of the count. He wants clean data. "Honesty and integrity in the process would ultimately benefit Naga society by providing reliable information for planning and development," Vihienuo said.

The current house listing phase started July 1 and runs through the end of the month. It spans all 17 districts. Over 6,000 personnel are currently working the field. This group includes a massive network of supervisors, trainers, and enumerators pulled from government ranks.

These workers have a specific job. They visit every home to ask 33 questions about amenities and assets. Everything goes straight into a mobile app. The operation covers 1,606 villages. Teams will pivot to the second phase in February 2027 to start the population count.
