Kohima: Authorities across Nagaland are ramping up preparations for the 2027 Census, launching phased training programs for enumerators and supervisors to ensure the collection of reliable data. District administrations are focusing on standardizing data collection procedures, field protocols, and census concepts to prepare personnel for the upcoming House Listing Operation and Population Enumeration.
In Kohima, Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem visited training sessions at the DC Office Complex on June 10. He highlighted the significant impact of the exercise, telling staff, "Census data would play a crucial role in policy formulation and development planning." Buchem also assured participants that field personnel will receive full support from supervisors and administrative officials throughout the operation.
Training efforts are expanding rapidly across the state. Chümoukedima hosted approximately 150 participants for its first phase of training, while Kiphire commenced a three-day session at the DPDB Conference Hall. Tuensang officials are organizing eight training batches to accommodate 347 workers, and Dimapur has scheduled mandatory sessions at the Livingstone Foundation College of Nursing running from June 11 through June 17.
Throughout these districts, officials have underscored the necessity of accountability and confidentiality. Leaders in various regions, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Longdiba L. Sangtam in Kiphire and Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa in Tuensang, have urged personnel to approach the national exercise with dedication and sincerity despite the inevitable challenges of field data collection.
