Imphal: Villagers in Laho, Litan, and Sharkaphung have reported a sustained attack by armed groups using automatic weapons. The incident began late Tuesday night, with fire reportedly coming from the direction of Mongkot Chepu Kuki village. Residents say the violence has caused widespread panic, particularly among the elderly, women, and children.

Community leaders allege that security forces on the scene failed to neutralize the attackers. Instead, they claim officers discharged live ammunition toward Naga civilians who were attempting to protect their homes. The villagers have denounced these actions as a violation of humanitarian norms and a betrayal of the duty to protect the public.

In response to the violence, local representatives have issued several demands. They are calling for an immediate end to all hostilities in civilian areas and an independent, transparent judicial inquiry into the events. The community is also requesting the deployment of neutral peacekeeping forces to replace current security arrangements and the prosecution of any officers found to have fired on civilians.
