Imphal: The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) wants President Droupadi Murmu to launch an independent investigation into the deaths of six Naga civilians. They handed a memorandum to Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav following a candlelight vigil in Kohima. The victims were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13. Their remains were found nearly a month later near a Kuki-Zo village.
NSF leaders claim armed Kuki militants tortured and killed the six individuals. They argue these deaths highlight a wider failure to protect Naga communities during the regional conflict. The federation submitted a field report documenting property damage, displacement, and constant insecurity.
NSF president Mteisuding addressed the crowd during the July 9 vigil. He stated that the gathering served as a "revolutionary solidarity" for the six slain Nagas. He claimed the victims suffered brutal mutilation before their deaths and demanded the state identify and punish those responsible.
The group blamed the violence on the proliferation of weapons and illegal drug trafficking. They are calling for a strict review of the Suspension of Operations agreement. Their eight-point demand list includes an inquiry into security force conduct, better protection for villages, and safer travel along key highways like National Highway-202.
