Guwahati: Dhubri Lok Sabha MP Rakibul Hussain chaired a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting on Monday to evaluate the progress of central and state welfare initiatives. The session at the Deputy Commissioner office brought together local legislators, including Baby Begum, Abdus Sobahan Ali Sarkar, Jibesh Chandra Roy, and Wazed Ali Choudhury, alongside district officials.
Participants scrutinized key development areas such as healthcare, education, road infrastructure, rural development, and water supply. During the review, officials presented status updates on ongoing projects and highlighted administrative hurdles that currently impede progress. The committee also examined issues concerning the Sonahat International Market, with the MP ordering departments to submit formal reports for follow-up action.
Addressing the attendees, Hussain underscored the necessity of reaching intended beneficiaries promptly through better coordination. He stated, "Government schemes are aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens and stressed that all departments must work with commitment, transparency, and accountability to ensure effective implementation." The meeting ended with a consensus among elected representatives and administrators to expedite project timelines and strengthen oversight mechanisms across the district.
