Aizawl: Mizoram officially inaugurated its new National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group Headquarters on Friday, marking a significant step in the organization's expansion across the Northeast. The facility, situated at Level 2 of the New High Court Parking Complex in MINECO, was opened virtually by Director General Lt. Gen Virendra Vats. The ceremony saw the attendance of prominent figures, including Sports and Youth Services Department Director H. Lalhmingthanga and 23 Sector Assam Rifles DIG Brig Pushpendar Sorayan.
During his address, Lt. Gen Vats emphasized that strong infrastructure is vital for organizational efficiency and national growth. He encouraged the youth to actively participate in NCC programs, highlighting that the region is central to the nation's progress. While the infrastructure is now established, he stressed that the future focus must shift toward nurturing human resources and developing impactful programs. The event also included the launch of the official Instagram and X social media accounts for the Aizawl headquarters by Brig GS Arora.
The establishment of this permanent headquarters follows a long development process. Since the NCC first became active in Mizoram in 1964, it has grown to include four battalions operating across Aizawl and Lunglei. Following the state government's approval in January 2024, the project progressed through a series of key milestones, including the unveiling of the flag by Chief Minister Lalduhoma and a formal opening by Governor General Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh earlier this year. The office operated temporarily from the Sports and Youth Services building until its move to the permanent MINECO location.
The ceremony, which featured an invocation by Rev Samuel Lalrinsanga and the felicitation of regional achievers and alumni, concluded with a vote of thanks from Brig Arora. The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive growth and pledged that this office is merely the start of a more expansive mission to support the youth of Mizoram.
