Mission Shakti Strengthens Women and Child Welfare Implementation in Nagaland

Kohima: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women under Mission Shakti, part of the Social Welfare Department, hosted a state-level consultative meeting and training program at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) in Kohima on May 15. The initiative focused on enhancing capacity building, fostering better coordination, and ensuring the effective delivery of women and child welfare schemes across all 17 districts of Nagaland.

During the inaugural session, Social Welfare director and Mission Shakti member secretary, Tosheli Zhimomi, commended the diligent work of district functionaries and recognized those who demonstrated exceptional performance. Social Welfare secretary and mission director, Yongchingkumla, provided an overview of the past year's accomplishments. Notably, Sakhi-One Stop Centres (OSC) were successfully established in six newly created districts as of October 2025. Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) provided vital financial support to 6,878 beneficiaries, with Rs. 3,33,97,000 disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer during the 2025–26 fiscal year.
