Kohima: Gorkha Youth Club Dimapur held a blood donation camp at District Hospital Dimapur on August 25, 2026. The event honored the legacy of India’s fallen soldiers. Organizers set the date to mark the execution of Major Durga Malla, the first Gorkha freedom fighter of the Indian National Army, by the British in 1944. Volunteers also paid tribute to Captain N. Kenguruse, a Naga soldier who died during the 1999 Kargil War.
Anand Gurung coordinated the proceedings. Shikupu Zhimomi, representing Business Consultancy Network president Tungupu K. Zhimomi, addressed the crowd. He praised the club for its social dedication. He stated that blood donation is the ultimate gift of life.
Dr. Rongsenmar Longkumer of the Blood Bank spoke to donors. He urged residents to ignore myths about the process. Healthy adults over 18 can safely give blood twice each year. Sumit Sunar, president of the youth club, added his thoughts on the group's ongoing mission. He said, "Gorkhas have always stood at the nation’s frontlines and remain ever ready to serve society and the country."
The drive saw strong participation. Staff recorded 12 to 15 units collected by the end of the day.
