Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh has launched Mission Arunachal Kiwi to bolster its position as India's leading producer of the fruit. The initiative seeks to create a globally competitive organic ecosystem by supporting farmers through every stage of production, from cultivation to final export.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced the program, stating it will strengthen the entire kiwi value chain. The mission focuses on scientific farming practices, improved logistics, and the development of essential cold storage facilities. By establishing better market access and processing capabilities, the state intends to increase the value of its local produce while creating new economic opportunities for growers.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia officially inaugurated the mission in New Delhi this week. The project aims to turn Arunachal Organic Kiwi into an international brand known for quality and sustainability. Beyond agriculture, the initiative is expected to attract private investment and promote agri-tourism throughout the region.

The state currently accounts for over half of India's total kiwi output. Key growing regions include Lower Subansiri, West Kameng, Shi Yomi, Tawang, and Dibang Valley. This new push serves to formalize the industry and ensure that farmers benefit from direct market linkages and modern post-harvest management.
