The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited manages the Umiam to Mawiong stretch. It sits in poor condition. The four-lane highway termination point at Rilbong is also breaking down. These corridors serve as vital links for traffic flow.
Local streets show equal neglect. The road connecting Motphran to Lumdiengjri has stayed in disrepair for months. The link road behind the MTC Building, joining Jail Road and Oakland, is failing. Residents in Jhalupara also report that their internal roads are in a dilapidated state.
Officials redirected the 40 crore budget from the stalled Smart City road project at Lachaumiere to fix these arteries. While work finished on some parts of the city, the primary routes remain ignored. The state government remains under pressure as frustrated motorists deal with the aftermath of official neglect.
