Shillong: The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited is pushing 10 road projects through Meghalaya. The work spans 213.43 kilometres and carries a price tag of Rs 5,342.09 crore. Some roads are nearly finished. Others remain deep in the execution stage.
Three segments of the Shillong Western Bypass account for 38.34 kilometres and Rs 1,868.81 crore. Progress varies across these sections. Package-I hit 73 percent. Package-III reached 52 percent and Package-II is at 50 percent. NHIDCL expects to finish these by September 2026. The agency stated that "NHIDCL is currently executing 10 road projects across Meghalaya, covering a combined length of 213.43 km at a total cost of Rs 5,342.09 crore."
Work on the Shillong-Dawki corridor is moving forward. Package-1 is done. Package-2 covers 26.55 kilometres and sits at 51 percent. Package-4 spans 17.77 kilometres at 53 percent. Package-5 includes the 368-metre Dawki Bridge. It is 42 percent complete.
The Nongstoin-Rambrai-Kyrshai road leads in progress at 83 percent. It cost Rs 359.86 crore and spans 33.70 kilometres. It should wrap up by December 31, 2026. Garo Hills projects lag behind. The 40.84-km Dainadubi-Darugiri road sits at 45 percent with a Rs 705.83 crore bill. The 36.64-km Darugiri-Songsak-Williamnagar Junction section hit 26 percent at a cost of Rs 801.07 crore. These roads face completion deadlines in March and September 2027.
