Shillong: Meghalaya is changing how it pays new teachers. All appointments in government and deficit schools now fall under a Structured Pay Framework. The state Education Department issued the order to cover every level from Lower Primary to Higher Secondary institutions. This mandate stays in effect until the 2027-28 financial year ends.
Special Officer I Mawthoh confirmed the policy applies to all new hires starting immediately. Money must be available for these roles. Official procedures remain the law of the land. According to the government, "These appointments remain subject to the availability of funds and require strict adherence to prescribed rules and procedures."
Every hire made under this framework now falls under the School Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya, or SEMAM. Schools must follow existing Office Memoranda to fill vacancies. The directive pulls from various government orders passed between 2024 and 2026. Staff must follow these rules to the letter.
