Kohima: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) held a coordination meeting in Kohima on Thursday to review the status of various state development projects. Chaired by Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner Kikheto Sema, the session included representatives from the departments of Planning and Transformation, Land Resources Development, Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), and Roads and Bridges.

Dharmvir Jha, a Statistical Adviser for the Ministry of DoNER, represented the central government during the review. He praised the work of IDAN and called for the immediate conversion of memorandums of understanding and letters of appointment into active investments. Addressing the progress of regional infrastructure, Jha directed the Department of Roads and Bridges to utilize available funds to accelerate construction on North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) roads.

The Ministry emphasized the need for diligent project execution across all sectors. Jha instructed the Development Commissioner to oversee all state proposals, noting that submissions to the Ministry must be coordinated through the Planning Department to ensure proper oversight. During the discussions, officials also explored the commercial potential of agarwood cultivation, with the Ministry committing to review a formal proposal once the state submits further details.

Kikheto Sema highlighted the success of coffee cultivation in Nagaland, noting its role in creating jobs and boosting farmer income. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry for supporting pilot coffee projects and expanding value chain development across 17 districts, reaffirming the state's commitment to building a robust local coffee industry.
