Meghalaya Remains on Track for National Games Despite Project Hurdles

Shillong: Meghalaya is moving forward with preparations for the upcoming National Games according to schedule, despite facing minor setbacks on certain infrastructure projects. Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla confirmed the status of the event during a recent update.

To accelerate development, the state government has launched the National Games Society. This new body aims to streamline decision-making and improve collaboration between government departments. The society is tasked with ensuring all logistical and construction deadlines are met to keep the event on course.

Shylla has directed his department to appoint officials to specialized committees focused on critical areas such as healthcare, transportation, and accommodation. These groups will draft operational plans and conduct regular progress reviews. Regarding the pace of work, Shylla stated, "Meghalaya’s preparations for the upcoming National Games remain on schedule despite minor hurdles in certain projects."

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently visited the state to assess the progress of these preparations. During his review, he expressed satisfaction with the current state of the initiative. The government remains committed to ensuring that all necessary support systems and infrastructure are prepared well before the start of the Games.
