Shillong: A state-wide hiring spree hit Khliehriat on Tuesday. The Meghalaya State Skill Development Society teamed up with the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training to kick off the project at the local Industrial Training Institute. It is a big push for jobs.
East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Manish Kumar opened the event. He told local youth that the initiative provides a vital platform for local youth to gain skills and secure employment both within India and abroad. Candidates finishing Classes 10 and 12 are top priorities.
Skill Development Officer Boimi Dkhar confirmed 10,000 openings are up for grabs. Some 6,000 employers are scouting talent in hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, and construction. Applicants need only hold an 8th-grade education, though professional graduates and ITI holders are welcome to apply.
Companies are promising food, housing, training, and standard benefits like PF and ESI. Overseas roles in Japan, Germany, Australia, and the UAE pay high wages. Nurses, builders, and factory workers can earn more than Rs 2.75 lakh every month.
The team already visited Saipung Block on August 19. They head to Lumshnong Block on August 21. Officials urge eligible residents to show up and apply.
