Kohima: A one-day job fair in Kohima connected job seekers with five major employers on September 25. The Regional Employment Exchange hosted the event to fix the persistent gap between workers and available roles. More than 100 people showed up. They met with companies to discuss openings both inside and outside Nagaland.
Organizers included the Regional Employment Officer, the National Career Service Centre for SC/ST, and the Don Bosco Placement Network. These groups aimed to sharpen skills and boost the state workforce. The need for such work is dire. Official data shows 69,896 people remained registered with Nagaland employment exchanges as of July 2026.
Employers at the fair included Reliance Jio, Chilli Breeze, Talent Acquaintance, Apex Motors, and SBI Life. Together, they brought over 2,000 openings to the table. The turnout proved steady. Of the 100 attendees, 37 candidates made the shortlist. A report from the DIPR stated the program was held to "facilitate employment opportunities and strengthen linkages between job seekers and prospective employers." By the end of the day, 17 people walked away with offer letters.
