Shillong: The East Khasi Hills district administration has instructed Block Development Officers to launch an intensified campaign regarding the 112 single emergency number. This initiative aims to bolster the Emergency Response Support System, ensuring that residents in both rural and urban areas are well informed about the unified platform and the assistance it provides.
Since its inception in 2018, the 112 service has operated as a comprehensive mechanism for immediate crisis support. Government officials noted that the system is fully functional and has consistently provided reliable aid across various locations in Meghalaya. By focusing on grassroots outreach, the administration seeks to maximize the reach of this government backed resource.
Local authorities emphasized that the overall effectiveness of the emergency response framework relies heavily on public engagement and knowledge. They believe that sustained publicity efforts will build greater community trust in the helpline and facilitate the swifter reporting of urgent incidents. Ultimately, the administration hopes that ensuring citizens recognize help is only a phone call away will improve public confidence and lead to more timely emergency interventions.
