Mansukh Mandaviya Promotes Fit India Cycling Drive and Reviews Ri-Bhoi Development Projects

Shillong: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya joined hundreds of residents in Shillong on Sunday for a special cycling event. Held at the State Central Library as part of the nationwide Fit India Movement, the program aimed to encourage daily physical activity among citizens. Minister of State Raksha Nikhil Khadse and Meghalaya Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla attended the event alongside other local officials.

Following the cycling initiative, Mandaviya traveled to Nongpoh to review progress on the Aspirational District Programme in Ri-Bhoi. Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Saini briefed the minister on current developments across the healthcare, education, and agriculture sectors during a meeting at the District Rural Development Agency.

Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem used the visit to present several infrastructure and economic proposals for the district. Key requests included the establishment of a new medical college, improved facilities for the local ITI, and the inclusion of Ri-Bhoi as a host site for the 2027 National Games. Syiem also requested support to help local farmers compete with outside poultry markets by securing expert training from Gujarat for agricultural and livestock cultivation.

Mandaviya expressed support for the proposals. He promised to facilitate training programs and investigate potential technical partnerships to strengthen local exports and market connections for Ri-Bhoi producers.
