Imphal: The documentary film Battlefield has been selected for the International Competition section at the 19th Mumbai International Film Festival, which takes place in Mumbai from June 15 to 21, 2026. This recognition follows the film's successful world premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India.

Directed by Borun Thokchom, the film will compete in the feature-length documentary category against international entries. It is produced by Manjoy Lourembam, Dr. Radhesyam Oinam, and Viswamithra Universals. Regarding the selection, director Borun Thokchom stated, "This is a proud moment not only for the film but also for the state and the entire film fraternity of Manipur."

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh celebrated the milestone on social media, describing the achievement as a testament to the talent of local filmmakers. The festival, organized by the National Film Development Corporation under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is the largest event in South Asia for non-feature films. For the 2026 edition, organizers reviewed over 1,400 entries from 47 countries before selecting the final lineup.
