Imphal: Manipur remains on edge. Protesters hit the streets again Monday to demand justice for six Liangmai Naga civilians killed after being abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village. Civil society groups gathered at the Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai Community Hall to condemn the violence and blast government inaction.

Groups like the All Manipur United Clubs Organisation and various Meira Paibi associations organized the sit-in. They want an end to the bloodshed and what they call state-sponsored repression. Elangbam Sobita Leima, secretary of the Laipham Khunou Meira Paibi, did not hold back. "The Centre and the state government had failed to curb militant violence," she said while slamming the current Suspension of Operations agreement.

Another demonstration unfolded at Sangaiprou Kabui Khul in Imphal West. The Justice for the Six Sons of Koubru United Committee led the charge there. Protesters waved placards and demanded the arrest of those responsible for the murders. They also called for the Kuki National Front to be labeled a terrorist organization and pressed for the removal of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen.

Agitators vow to keep the pressure on. They intend to stage peaceful protests across the state until authorities hold the killers accountable. Officials have yet to respond to the mounting demands for accountability and the call to revoke the existing ceasefire agreements.
