Imphal: Farmers in Manipur's Churachandpur district have completed their first successful harvest of green peas under Project Hinichi. This joint initiative between the Narcotics Control Bureau and Manipur Police serves as a critical move to steer rural communities away from illicit poppy cultivation by providing viable economic alternatives.

The program has already supported 124 households in shifting to sustainable agricultural practices. Officials hope this transition will provide long-term financial stability for families while strengthening the region against the influence of narcotics production.

Manipur Police officials noted the achievement on social media, describing the harvest as a tangible step toward "building stronger communities, improving livelihoods, and creating a drug-free future." This effort is part of a broader government strategy to eradicate illegal farming and promote legal, sustainable crops across the state.
