Manipur Police seize narcotics and arrest four in statewide raids

Imphal: Manipur police arrested four people and confiscated a significant quantity of illegal narcotics during two separate operations on May 20. The efforts targeted drug trafficking activities in the Imphal East and Churachandpur districts.

In the first operation, officers at the Irilbung Police Station check gate stopped two local men, 20-year-old Yambem Sudhir Singh and 26-year-old Thongam Bishal Singh. Police recovered approximately 3.3 kilograms of suspected raw ganja from the pair. Authorities also seized two mobile phones and two vehicles, specifically a Honda Activa scooter and a Stunner motorcycle.

A second operation occurred along National Highway 102B in the Churachandpur district. Police arrested 31-year-old Khupsiankhai Vualnam, a Myanmar national, along with 34-year-old local resident Doukhanlal Thangsing. Officers discovered 55 soap cases filled with suspected brown sugar, weighing about 2.127 kilograms, in their possession. A Kenbo motorcycle was also seized at the scene.

Police have launched investigations into both cases to determine the origin and intended destination of the confiscated drugs.
