Manipur Police Arrest Two Suspected Drug Peddlers in Weekend Crackdown

Guwahati: Manipur Police arrested two suspected drug peddlers during operations conducted across the state. These enforcement actions followed a security review session led by Director General of Police Mukesh Singh, who visited the Imphal East District Police Headquarters to evaluate the regional crime and operational situation.

In the first operation, police apprehended 41-year-old Dil Bahadur Chetry in the North AOC area of Imphal West. Officers recovered 412 grams of methamphetamine tablets from Chetry, who is a resident of Tinsukia, Assam. A second operation in the Thoubal district resulted in the arrest of 28-year-old Md. Farish Khan at his residence. Authorities seized 13.4 grams of heroin powder, over 17 kilograms of a suspected heroin solution, Rs 37,500 in cash, and a scooter.

During his visit to the district headquarters, the DGP met with police leadership to discuss ongoing investigations and public safety strategies. He urged officers to maintain high standards throughout their work, stating that he encouraged all ranks to continue "discharging their duties with dedication and commitment towards ensuring peace, security, and public confidence." The police chief also stressed the necessity of firm action against anti-social elements and highlighted the need for proactive anti-insurgency operations to stabilize the region.
