Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated the state's first Exclusive Special Court of the National Investigation Agency at the Thoubal District Court Complex in Khangabok. The new facility aims to strengthen the local judicial system and provide citizens with timely access to legal services without the need to travel outside the state.

During the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasized that the court addresses significant law and order challenges by allowing NIA-related cases to be handled locally. This shift is expected to reduce the financial burden and logistical difficulties previously faced by litigants forced to seek justice in courts elsewhere.

High Court of Manipur Chief Justice M. Sundar participated in the event and highlighted the broader impact of the development. He stated, "The establishment of the court should not be viewed in isolation, but rather as part of a larger narrative to strengthen the State's judicial infrastructure."

The event was jointly organized by the state's Law and Legislative Affairs Department and the High Court of Manipur. Attendees included Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Justices A. Guneshwar Sharma and A. Bimol Singh, along with local officials and legal professionals.

Following the court opening, the Chief Minister attended a seminar in Imphal titled Media for Communal Harmony and Responsible Journalism. Hosted by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations and the Editors Guild Manipur, the session examined the responsibility of the media in maintaining communal harmony and ethical reporting standards.
