Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh launched 13 mobile medical units on Tuesday to boost healthcare access in the state's remote hill districts. The vehicles were flagged off at the Directorate of Health Services in Lamphel, Imphal, and will operate under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan and the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan programs.

These units are designed to serve geographically isolated populations in Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, and Tengnoupal. Residents in these areas will gain access to outpatient consultations, diagnostic testing, maternal and child healthcare, and essential medications. The teams will also conduct screenings for hypertension and diabetes, alongside oral health care and public health awareness campaigns.

The Chief Minister emphasized the government's commitment to bridging the medical gap for vulnerable populations. He stated the initiative was aimed at "strengthening healthcare delivery and improving access to medical services in underserved communities."

The launch event included attendance from senior health department officials, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sumant Singh, Director of Health Services N. Hemantakumar Singh, and State Mission Director of the National Health Mission Manipur M. Dinesh Singh.
