Imphal: The State Health Society and National Health Mission of Manipur, alongside the Directorate of Health Services, launched the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2026 today at the Classic Hotel in Imphal West. The initiative targets one of the primary causes of childhood illness and mortality by promoting better sanitation, clean drinking water, and effective hygiene habits.
Dr. N. Hemantakumar Singh, Director of Health Services, officially introduced the program and emphasized that community involvement is essential for success. He stated, "Awareness at the grassroots level, coupled with simple yet effective interventions, can significantly reduce cases of severe illness and death among children."
To manage and prevent the disease, officials are pushing for the widespread use of Oral Rehydration Solution and zinc supplementation. The campaign will rely on a coordinated effort between the health, education, and social welfare departments, as well as local organizations and frontline healthcare workers. Throughout the state, teams will distribute medical supplies and lead health education sessions to ensure caregivers have the tools needed to protect young children from preventable complications.
