Imphal: Manipur's Apex Committee of Meitei Internally Displaced Persons is demanding the immediate release of delayed Direct Benefit Transfer assistance. Thousands of families are currently suffering. These people have not seen a payment in over 15 days, leaving them unable to cover basic food, healthcare, and education costs.

The committee issued a stern ultimatum. They expect the government to clear the backlog within three days. The group, representing several organizations including the Churachandpur Meitei United Committee and the Meetei Council Moreh, issued a formal statement on July 16. It noted the severe financial strain caused by the holdup. "The delay has caused severe hardship to thousands of conflict-affected families," the committee stated.

Beyond the immediate payment, the coalition is pushing for a permanent, predictable system. They want the government to credit the monthly funds on the first day of each month moving forward. This change would allow families to manage their limited resources with more certainty. The Committee on Protection of Meetei Victims, Meetei Union Kangpokpi District, Torbung Gram Panchayat Victim Committee, and the Apex Committee of Victim Villages all endorsed the demand for prioritized relief.
