Imphal: The Directorate of Information and Public Relations in Manipur held a three-day welfare camp in Imphal from June 18 to June 20, 2026. The event was part of the broader Jan Kalyan Shivir Public Welfare Campaign, which runs nationwide from June 12 to June 20. Held at the DIPR headquarters at Nityaipat Chuthek, the initiative focused on supporting media professionals through the Manipur State Journalists’ Welfare Scheme and the Manipur Working Journalists’ Pension Scheme.
During the camp, eighteen journalists completed enrollment for these programs. Staff members helped attendees submit applications, resolve grievances, and understand specific eligibility criteria for government support. On the final day, DIPR Director Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh distributed pension books to newly approved subscribers to ensure they received their benefits promptly.
Dr. Singh praised the initiative for making government resources more accessible to those working in the media. He noted, "The Jan Kalyan Shivir is a commendable initiative and holding this camp at DIPR enables journalists to access various welfare services and benefits taken up by the Government with greater ease." He urged more journalists to secure their financial and social standing by utilizing these state-run programs.
The event drew significant interest from the local media community, with 40 to 50 additional journalists visiting to inquire about available support. By hosting this outreach, the department aims to ensure that all eligible professionals can easily access the benefits promised by state and central government welfare schemes.
