Imphal: A delegation from the Manipur Congress visited New Delhi on Wednesday to file a formal complaint with the National Human Rights Commission. The group, led by Congress Legislature Party leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh, met with Commission Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian to present a memorandum detailing ongoing human rights concerns in the state.

The memorandum highlights the abduction of 20 civilians, specifically noting that the group includes six Nagas and 14 Kukis. Congress leaders urged the commission to press the Manipur government for information regarding the whereabouts of these hostages and to facilitate their safe return. They also requested that authorities register official cases and pursue arrests against those responsible.

Beyond the abductions, the delegation raised alarms about an economic blockade affecting major national highways. They reported that this disruption has caused critical shortages of medical supplies, LPG cooking gas, and other essential goods. The group requested that the commission demand action reports from the state government and the Director General of Police to ensure accountability and improve the welfare of residents.
