Imphal: The Sadar Hills Chiefs Association has dismissed recent accusations against Leilon Vaiphei Village Chief Lalboi Vaiphei as false and politically motivated. The organization stated that claims linking the chief to an abduction case are part of an effort to fuel communal tension in the region. They warned that spreading unverified information threatens to worsen the existing ethnic violence in Manipur.

Seeking clarity and justice, the association is calling for an independent and transparent investigation into the deaths of three church leaders. They also pointed to specific allegations involving D. Adam Liangmei, noting that reports suggest he may have had prior knowledge regarding these killings. Furthermore, the association requested a formal probe into claims that individuals from Konsakhul village supported armed militants during a deadly ambush on September 12, 2023.

Amid these rising tensions, the group demanded the immediate and safe release of 14 Kuki hostages currently held in captivity. They urged all parties involved to prioritize the rule of law over propaganda, stressing that civilians must not be caught in the middle of ongoing political and communal conflicts. The association maintained that authorities must remain objective and avoid influence from biased narratives when addressing these critical cases.
