Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh addressed the urgent need for long-term stability across the state during the 8th Foundation Day celebration of the Chingamakha Nambul Mapal Development Committee in Imphal. While highlighting recent progress in regions like Jiribam, where Kuki, Paite, Hmar, and Meitei communities have begun sharing meals and rebuilding their lives, the Chief Minister acknowledged that the path to normalcy faces significant challenges.
The Chief Minister specifically condemned the recent explosion in Tronglaobi that killed two children and left their mother in critical condition. He labeled the tragedy a serious setback to ongoing reconciliation efforts. Addressing the gathered crowd, he stated, "Durable peace can only be achieved through collective participation from all sections of society."
Despite these tensions, the government remains committed to rebuilding communal trust. Singh warned the public against individuals with vested interests who attempt to incite conflict for personal gain, urging residents to isolate those who disrupt social harmony. During the event, he also recognized academic achievements by presenting awards to local high school students and encouraged citizens to take pride in the upkeep of their local roads and neighborhoods.
