Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh toured Heirok in the Thoubal district on Sunday to assess the progress of various development projects. Accompanied by local officials and education leaders, the Chief Minister focused on strengthening regional infrastructure to better serve the community.
A primary focus of the visit was the upcoming Manipur Technical University extension campus. Originally intended for the Heirok Engineering College, the site is being repurposed to host academic sessions starting this July or August. The Chief Minister ordered the immediate blacktopping of the six-kilometre road connecting the campus to National Highway 102. He also pledged to upgrade the campus facilities, including drainage systems and boundary walls, while addressing local needs for electricity and drinking water.
Beyond higher education, the Chief Minister visited the local Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, where he met with students and faculty and took part in a tree-planting event. He also evaluated the Community Health Centre and the local Women’s Market to identify areas for improvement. By reviewing the condition of market sheds and medical facilities, he reaffirmed his commitment to upgrading service delivery for the residents of Heirok.
