Agartala: Residents of Kalyanpur poured 9 lakh rupees into a crowdfunding drive on Tuesday to pay for the medical bills of Manashree Chowdhury. The toddler is fighting Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type-1. She currently receives care at AIIMS in New Delhi.

The event kicked off at 3 p.m. at Sonar Tori Mukta Mancha and ran until midnight. Social activist Raja Saha spearheaded the effort, while local MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury managed the operation. He stayed on-site for the entire duration. The money poured in quickly. The Kalyanpur BJP Mandal handed over 50,000 rupees. Somen Ghosh, who serves as Chairman of the Panchayat Samiti, donated his entire monthly allowance. Contractors, doctors, local clubs, and government staff also added to the growing pile of cash in the collection box.

Organizers hope these funds bridge the massive gap for her expensive life-saving care. The family is currently seeking donations from across Tripura to cover the remaining costs. Attendees spent the night praying for the young girl and encouraging others to donate. One participant summed up the mood: "This is not just about one child; it is about humanity standing together." The campaign stands as a firm example of how grassroots work can help families facing crushing medical debt.
