Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has called on the public to abandon bandhs and blockades, urging citizens to resolve grievances through open dialogue instead. During an inauguration ceremony for three new bridges in the Imphal West district, the Chief Minister emphasized that shutdowns disproportionately harm daily wage earners and laborers who rely on consistent work to support their families.
Highlighting his commitment to fostering trust between the state's diverse communities, the Chief Minister pointed to recent progress in Jiribam district. He noted that members of the Hmar, Kuki, Paite, and Meitei communities have met to establish peace and are beginning to return to their villages. He also addressed the recent tragic bomb blast in Tronglaobi, where two children were killed, describing the event as a deeply unfortunate incident.
During his visit, the Chief Minister oversaw the opening of the Akham, Salam, and Maklang bridges, which were completed at a combined cost of seven million rupees. He responded to local requests by promising to approve the construction of a new community hall and to conduct feasibility studies for a new dam. Additionally, he pledged to improve local road infrastructure and health facilities, noting that plans for a women's market shed are currently in development.
The Chief Minister praised the resilience of the state's women vendors, noting their vital role in sustaining local families through the Ema Market tradition. The event was attended by local officials and community members, marking a step forward in regional infrastructure development and public outreach.
