Guwahati: Assam-based packaged water company Luit Blue observed World Environment Day by hosting a free sapling distribution event in Hajongbari, Panikhaiti. The initiative aligned with the central government's Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, which encourages citizens to plant trees as a tribute to their mothers.

Local residents collected a variety of fruit-bearing and medicinal saplings, including jamun, kothal, arjun, and amlokhi. The Luit Blue team, led by founder Mondalica Chaliha, also provided free drinking water to all participants throughout the day. The event received support from local leadership, including Gaon Burah Debojit Rongpi, and guidance from Divisional Forest Officers Manoj Goswami and Sayambrita Dutta.

Beyond planting trees, the organization urged community members to repurpose empty water bottles as planters to minimize waste. This focus on sustainability is central to the company's ethos, which emphasizes community engagement alongside safe hydration.

Reflecting on the mission of the event, Mondalica Chaliha stated, "As a women-led homegrown brand from Assam, Luit Blue believes that responsibility goes beyond providing safe hydration. Through this sapling distribution drive, we wanted to encourage people to plant a tree in honour of mothers and also adopt simple, sustainable habits such as reusing bottles as planters. Every sapling planted and nurtured today is a step towards a greener future."
