Itanagar: A major landslide blocked the Pasighat-Aalo highway in Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday, May 24, halting all vehicular traffic. The blockage occurred near Kebang in the Siang district, severing a critical transportation link between East Siang, Siang, and West Siang districts.

Local officials attributed the disaster to heavy, incessant rainfall that has swept across the Siang belt. The persistent weather has also caused flooding in several parts of the region, raising fears among authorities about the potential for additional landslides in vulnerable hill areas.

The administration has officially advised travelers to avoid the area until crews can remove the debris and restore road safety. Authorities plan to begin clearance operations soon, though residents are urged to exercise extreme caution while the wet weather continues.
