Kohima: Advisor for Water Resources Tongpang Ozukum inspected massive landslide damage in Chuchuyimlang on Saturday. He evaluated critical infrastructure failures hitting major transport routes. The damage forced a complete shutdown of National Highway 2 at the 181.100 km mark.
PWD (NH) officials confirmed the highway sits on unstable ground. The current road is gone. It cannot be fixed, so crews must build a diversion. Ozukum met with Chuchuyimlang and Unger village leaders to secure land for this new path. He asked for their full cooperation, noting that the closure of NH-2 has blocked supplies to Mokokchung, Zunheboto, and Tuensang districts. "The damaged road was beyond restoration and required diversion," officials stated.
Ozukum also surveyed a separate landslide impacting the road to Longleng and Mon via Salulamang. He promised the Salulamang Village Council that repairs would begin quickly. Officials from the district administration, PWD (NH), and local party workers joined the tour. Changtongya SDO (Civil) Sangpangchang Longkumer and the EAC of Chuchuyimlang provided support during the site visits.
