Imphal: The Committee on Tribal Unity issued a warning today. The group says it will not accept blame for any actions taken to clear supply routes. Their deadline for removing checkpoints on National Highways 2 and 37 passed without government intervention.

Food and medicine stocks are running low in the Kuki-Zo region. Prices for basic goods have climbed as transport remains blocked for over a month. The group insists these roads serve as the lifeline for local economic activity.

CoTU stated: "With the expiry of the 48-hour ultimatum, the committee nor any of its civil society organisations from Kangpokpi cannot be held responsible for any outcome to ensure normal transportation of goods and food items by ourselves."

Tensions remain high in Kangpokpi. Checkpoints appeared on the roads following the abduction and killing of six Naga civilians in May. Naga groups set up these blockades to monitor armed factions in the area. The Manipur government has yet to comment on the escalating situation. Security forces remain on high alert while locals face severe shortages.
