Guwahati: The Kuki-Zo Council has renewed its demand for a separate administration for the Kuki-Zo people following a targeted bomb attack in Manipur. The explosion occurred on June 15 in Leilon Munlui village, located in the Kangpokpi district, and left three youths with serious injuries.

The victims, identified as 15-year-old Genlenmang Vaiphei, 20-year-old Lunliandou Vaiphei, and 18-year-old Paogoulal Chongloi, were transported to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal for medical treatment. Chongloi is a notable local figure who has previously represented the Mohun Bagan Super Giant football club.

In an official statement, the council described the incident as part of a systematic campaign of violence against their community. The group reported that at least 14 Kuki-Zo individuals, including three pastors, have been killed since March 11, with more than six villages destroyed during the same period. Regarding the ongoing instability, the council stated, "The repeated attacks, killings and destruction of villages have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity within the community."

While the Kuki-Zo Council condemned the recent killing of six Naga hostages, they argued that the violence against their own civilians requires urgent national attention. The organization urged the Government of India to address the deepening insecurity and reach a durable political settlement. Seeking security and justice, the council called for peace and asked citizens across the country to condemn acts of violence regardless of ethnic background.
